Ciudad Acuña, or simply Acuña, as it is commonly known is a small city of less than 1 000,000 friendly inhabitants; a happy mix of country and tex-mex which, is perhaps the reason why this metropolitan area is also known as “The land of friendship”.
Set by the Río Grande or Río Bravo, it has two crossing points to the neighbouring city of Del Río, Texas, on the other side of the border.
This northern city has been a filming stage –and inspiration- for movies such as Kill Bill: Volume 2, Like Water For Chocolate, No Country For Old Men, and the cult film El Mariachi, starring Carlos Gallardo who was also born there.
Benjamin square is a good place to take a stroll and enjoy the downtown views.
