Cuatro Ciénegas is located in the desertic area of the state of Coahuila.

This marvelous Magical Town is part of an arid area, with mountains surrounding it in many directions and its famous and awe-inspiring “white dunes.
” Its numerous natural pools of water are scattered through the desert landscape, varying in size from small holes in the ground to large and deep ponds, standing out with a stunning variety of colors in each one.
Among these stand out the Poza de la Becerra, El Nogalito, La Poza Churince, and La Poza Azul.
In many of these natural pools you will be able to take part in a variety of activities, like scuba diving or snorkeling, mountain biking, photography, and much more.
These sites are also important investigative areas for many research organizations.
NASA, for
instance, considers its ecosystem a model to understand and research evolution.
As you make your way through its deserts and oases you will find many species, some unique only to this region like the golden lizard, white shell tortoise, the Coahuilan box turtle, or two species of freshwater bream, among many others.
Some of the creatures you will discover in Cuatro Ciénegas you will not find anywhere else in the world.
Cuatro Ciénegas offers areas only accessible through the highway, or many little roads.

Cuatro Ciénegas de Carranza: this town is where the military man and leading statesman in the Mexican Revolution, Venustiano Carranza, was born.
Here you will find a lovely museum dedicated to the man: Museo Casa Carranza.
You will also find the Parish Church of San Jose, as well as the wine cellars of winemakers Vitali y Ferriño.
If you choose to spend more than a day here, you can stay in the hotels of the town, or in cabins near the town.
They will make for a fun and comfortable stay.

The Poza Azul and the Poza de las Tortugas are truly glorious.
There are many traditional confections and products made with pecans, one of the most important products in the region.
You can also try their delicious “hojarascas,” little sugar and cinnamon cookies, perfect to bring home.

As for food, beef in this town is delicious.
