Chihuahua, located in northern Mexico, is the biggest state in the country. It is home to beautiful, colorful, and intense natural landscapes. It is also home to the Tarahumara (Rarámuri) people, the principal native group in the region. In the middle of the Tarahumara Sierra (range) is located the famous Copper Canyon, as well as the equally impressive canyons of Sinforosa, Urique, and Candameña, among others. The range hosts a variety of climates and flora, with thick forests in its heights, arid deserts in some plains, and tropical vegetation in the warm climate lower in the canyons.
Chihuahua State is rich in its architecture, boasting, for instance, the Chihuahua Cathedral, the baroque gems of Allende Valley and Parral, the multiple missionary temples, the porfirian heritage of the haciendas, and the elegant government buildings. El Chepe, one of the most famous panoramic rail lines in the world makes its rounds through the state. The passengers on board can make stops to go ziplining, hop on a cable car, or simply explore the Copper Canyon Adventure Park.
Wejoytrip recommends the mining town of Naica, chief producer of lead in Mexico, and known around the globe for the so called “Cave of Crystals,” discovered in 2000, where you will marvel at the enormous selenite crystals, reaching heights of up to 10 meters (33 ft.) and
up to 1 meter (3 ft.) wide. This is a destination that cannot be missed!
We also recommend: Chihuahua City, Hidalgo del Parral, Creel, Copper Canyon, Paquimé, the Tarahumara Community, Madera and 40 casas (homes), Juárez, the Samalayuca Dunes, and the Museum of the Chihuahuan Desert.
