If cold weather is bringing you down, come to Guerrero. It offers its best weather during the months of December and January. Its beaches, with their golden sands, offer deliciously warm water and sunny days with blue skies. Tourists, both national and international, love to visit the “Triángulo del Sol,” (Triangle of the Sun) which consists of Acapulco, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, and Taxco.
These tourist centers are the most visited in the state due to their closeness to Mexico City.
Wejoytrip recommends Acapulco, which offers great fun and some truly great hotels. Acapulco is made up of two splendid bays: Santa Lucia and Puerto Marqués, offering more than 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) of beaches. A tip: if you are a fan of tennis, each year, during February and March is hosted the Mexican Open. As for food, you have to try the fish ceviche and the green pozole.
In Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is located the El Palmar hotel zone, with a beach certified as the biggest in Mexico, 2.7 kilometers (1.6 miles) in length. Additionally, in Zihuatanejo you will be able to enjoy La Ropa, La Madera, and La Principal, relaxing beaches with calm and soothing waters.
For adventure lovers, close to Ixtapa you will find the bays of Papanoa, Barra de Potosí, and Troncones, ideal locations for surfing and for observing wildlife, such as crocodiles and turtles.
Other options to add are Playa Ventura, Copala, and Marquelia in the Costa Chica. Its exuberant vegetation and magnificent landscapes will constantly remind you that you are in pristine and virgin land.
Another interesting option is Taxco, Guerrero’s Magical Town. This is a charming colonial city, where you can enjoy its architecture and its grottoes. It is also worth visiting the Silver Museum and the Hacienda el Chorrillo.
