Aguascalientes inhabits its history in streets traversed by travelers along the Silver Route, the reason why there are so many grand haciendas in its surroundings.
It was the seat of the historical convention of 1914, and then went on to receive an impressive urban expansion through the modernization of industry in the automobiles and electronic equipment.
Today it is home to a deep-rooted culture, with scenes of bullfighting and an important architectural heritage that, with its vast cultural offerings, such as its famous San Marcos Fair, its many local dishes, and its arts and crafts, among many other things, make this a wonderful destination for anyone.

begin your trip by walking the oldest and most historic neighborhood in the city, the Triana neighborhood, also known as Barrio del Encino.
This neighborhood dates back to the 16th century.
You can continue your tour of the city by making a stop at the Temple of the Lord of the Encino.
This structure dates back to the 18th century, and was dedicated to the Black Christ of the Encino, whose festivity is celebrated on the 13th of November, the day that the locals will tell you there was a miraculous apparition of the Christ’s image on an oak (hence “encino”) that was struck by lighting.
The bullfighters of Aguascalientes are devout worshipers of this figure.
Right next door to the temple you can visit the famous José Guadalupe Posada Museum.
You can learn about the life and work of this iconic artist, pride of Aguascalientes.
Inside you will find many stunning works and representations, like death, revolutionary leaders, book illustrations, and much more.
It is the work of an extraordinary printmaker and engraver whose work has influenced many artists.
Another museum you cannot miss is the Museo de la Ciudad (Museum of the City), a neoclassical building built by the great builder Refugio Reyes Rivas.
Here you will find works by artists like Saturnino Herrán, charcoals, pencil drawings, and paintings, as well as the sculptures of Jesús F.
Contreras and the works of the painter Gabriel Fernández Ledesma.

You can try dishes like grilled pork ribs in plum sauce at the traditional restaurant Las Costillas de Sancho.
After your meal we recommend hopping on a streetcar in the city’s downtown.
The ride will take you to the Cathedral, the Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes, the Regional Museum of History, the Temple of Our Lady of Rosary, and the old neighborhood of San Marcos, where the San Marcos Fair is held, as well as bullfights.
All of this interspersed with the natural greens and yellows of the stoneworks on the facade, locally sourced.
You can end your tour of the city at the Merendero San Pancho.
Try their snacks, like the carnitas dish, as you listen to live authentic mariachi music, or other lively tunes, as you enjoy a drink or a beer with family and friends.
If you can fit it into your agenda, we also recommend the Hacienda El Chichimeco, where you can learn about the breeding and culture of bullfighting, its history and meaning to the region.
Afterwards you can relax in the hot springs of Ojocaliente by the natural ponds, which were in fact the main source of water for Aguascalientes in the 19th century.
