This Magical Town is such a charming destination.
Comala is located in the beautiful state of Colima, and is better known as the “white town of America,” due to the colors of the roofs and facades of its buildings.
The town is also surrounded by abundant vegetation, making it lovely even from a distance.
The name of the town is derived from the Nahuatl, “Comalli,” meaning “place where griddles are made,” which might come across as a slightly humorous name, but it also highlights the importance of the instrument on which much of Mexico’s food is made.
Comala was declared a Zone of Historic Monuments, and in 2002 was declared a Magical Town.
The climate is warm, much like its people.
Walking its streets is so pleasant as to leave its visitors with an unshakeable feeling of belonging.
The shade from its trees, the touch of its gentle breezes, and the beauty of its spaces, like its square, are gifts for all to enjoy.
Here you will find buildings like the Parochial Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, a sophisticated
neoclassical building standing in harmony with its surroundings.
It is located near the municipal presidency.
A great way to enjoy Comala is to simply sit down in its kiosk and gaze at your surroundings, letting the atmosphere inspire you, just like it did Juan Rulfo to write the iconic novel, Pedro Páramo.
